Default KC driving lites on my bull bar (wire to high beams?)

Just bought KC HiLites 151 Apollo Pro 6' 100W Driving Light System to put on my bumper's bull bar.

I was thinking about wiring them into my High Beams for two reasons.

1. It seems convenient and simple to tap them instantly and safely (occasionally) while on dark roads.

Knowing that usually I'd be pulled over for even having these lit up if seen, this may be good to know for some (especially in California). I'm going to add the vehicular code link.

24402. (a) Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed two auxiliary driving lamps mounted on the front at a height of not less than 16 inches nor more than 42 inches. Driving lamps are lamps designed for supplementing the upper beam from headlamps and may not be lighted with the lower beam.

The crappy thing there for me is mine would have the mounts at 44 inches.
Despite that.... Those I feel are great reasons to hook them up solely to my HB's
I plan to eventually get some hood mounted long range lights too.

With all that said... What do you feel I should do?

Hey, thanks for that code. I figured I was being illegal not having mine covered but, like you're thinking about, mine are triggered by the high beams and I don't want to get out and pull the covers every time I want to blast something with photons.

Based on my experience, running them off the high beams is really convenient, I mean when you turn on your brights you want it to become brighter. Now it's extraordinarily bright. Just make sure you link a relay to your high beam trigger and don't try to power them from the supply for your high beams. I've got the Putco harness so I just split the high beam trigger to both relays (headlights and 7" round "Hey you cut me off *******" lights)
