Damn, such a shame to see a great road trip cut down so early. I hope the graduation goes well and you can get things sorted with the heep.

Shipping was not less than the repair, but what we would have had to do was tow it up 80 or so miles to the jeep dealer, had to likely find another place to stay for the night, and then pay whatever it was the dealer wanted for repair. Then hit the road again hoping nothing else went wrong lol

Agreed. The heep is being dropped at my good friends shop who works on jeeps every day. Heading out to find a lease monday. Kind of excited for the jeep to be a side whip now so i can just hobby it up instead of cross my fingers every time i need to get somewhere

Two months ago I drove from Chicago to LA and back to Chicago. Spend about two weeks out in the road driving my 2001 jeep XJ. Spend under $1,500 in total with me and my girl friend. Went to the Rocky Mountains, moab,Grand Canyon,Disneyland and a few more places. Had no break downs with the XJ. Not even a flat tire. Nada. I got lucky I guess. We spend one day sleeping on a rest stop. And every other day we spend it at a hotel to shower

Stayed in Winnemucca the first night (for all you Johnny Cash fans). Our place had a casino in it, but the people in there made me far too sad to play anything.
