but id like to hear some people experience on how much of a PITA taking out the carpet and re-putting it back in is.

cuz this is something id like to do long term.
but not if its more hassle then its worth

Yes. I have first hand experience. I will tell you the most difficult part is by far the prep. Getting rid of the nasty tar sound deadner, degrease everything and scotch brite the entire floor. It was a lot of work!

It was 100% worth it IMO. I no longer have to worry about water on the floor. I know my floor is 100% metal and will never rust form moisture buildup in the occupant area.

Just don't be surprised if you pull the carpet up and some floor comes with it... especially if the interior has a musty smell.

Just did mine today. Work solid 12 hours to rip it up weld the spots in the floor back behind the rear wheel well. Hand sanded it all with 80 grit to scuff it up and get rid if a lil surface rust here and there. The primed it and rolled it in and it's Awesome!!

Floorboards are over rated. LOL Just look at Fred Flintstone! In all seriousness if you have to repair the floor, take your time to do it right.

Lol dude I had to rip mine out like 3 weeks ago I could not get the swamp smell out lol. I tried damp rid, wet vac, heat dry, dehumidifier, charcoal ect....u name it I tried it I ripped all that **** out. The carpet is a pain to get out I mean - - - - ing pain but now that it's out I don't miss it. The down side is I get alot more heat in the cab area, and the back seat floorboards watch out I could easily cook an egg on them after 30 min or so of driving. Up side is water drains out easier and cleaning the floors after a muddy weekend or sandy here in FL woods, beach whatever is alot eaiser. It's time consuming getting the seats out and in hooked to get the carpet out. I'm in the process of getting the inside of the jeep rhino lined or line-X. Just shopping for prices now. My Cheif @ the FD took his truck to some guy here in west palm for around 600 so I'm hopping for around the same maybe a lil less I can get it done to. I'll keep ya posted.
