Good tune up kit?
Hey all!! Brand new here and to the jeep world! Just picked up a 1994 grand cherokee Laredo and am stoked! Am looking to do a tune up to it here soon and was wondering if I could get some opinions on a good tune up kit. Am not opposed to buying everything separate but was curious if any of you could reccomend a nice kit to buy. Thank you for your time and input!!

A 'tune up' nowadays consists of a set of spark plugs. $3 a piece at any parts store.
You might consider also replacing the plug wires, cap and rotor, your air filter, do an oil and filter change, drain and replace all of the fluids so that you know they are good.
I don't know who the person at that aol email address is, but professional businesses don't work from aol email addresses.

Yeah I just had an oil change done. Am definitely looking to do a transmission fluid and radiator flush after my little tune up. In my mind im looking for plugs, cap, rotor, wires, air and fuel filter as the oil filter was just replaced during the oil change. Is there anything else I should keep an eye out for or look at replacing in the near future? It has 161k miles on it and I've heard with the right care I can still get a lot of use out of it. I will check out accele as well. Thank you!

Check your trans fluid. You want to see a cherry red color. Use NGK or champion copper plugs gapped at .035, good wires (8mm are fine) and a dizzy cap with brass terminals. Clean up your battery terminals and ground ends. Check your belt tension. Extras things would be to flush the brakes and power steering fluid (power steering is often the most under changed fluid). Check your brakes out and adjust the rear drums as needed. It's all a good start.

Ok sweet! Thanks a ton for the reply! Also anther concern I had, is it possible for engines to run too cold as opposed to running too hot? Sometimes my temp reading is at about 175ish. Is that possible or could that be a bad temp reading?

The differentials and transfer case should get their fluids replaced too. Pay attention to what comes out of them too because that can diagnose potential issues.
The idea is to get all the regular maintenance done now so that you know that it got done and when. From then on, you will just follow the regular schedules.
Since it will soon be summer, a coolant flush would be a great idea too. Look for stop leak junk that might be in it. That will point out possible issues that you will want to address.

You need to verify the temp ad factory gauges can be inaccurate. You have the correct thermostat in there? Should be a 195°. Alot of debate on what brand. Just stay away from fail safe stats.

Change your thermostat, or add one cus it sounds like there may not be one in there. You'll be removing it to flush the cooling system so get it all done at the same time.

Yeah that's how I'm seeing it. I don't have any service records so I'm assuming the worst as far as the maintenance goes. Haha. The transmission fluid looks perfect but I still would like to get it flushed.

If the Jeep has bigger tires than stock, the speedo will be off.
Be sure to fill out your profile with the year and type of Jeep you've got so folks will know what you are working with and help you with the right knowledge.
There is a ton of awesome stuff at the following link too. Your mind will be abuzz with all sorts of awesome things you can do with your new Jeep!
