Default Good Buy or nah?

Hi all, newbie here, Mostly driven cars as I live in the city, But I will be spending january - april or so up north in a rural area of Northern Ontario. Winters up there can be a bit harsher than in the city, last time i was up there 2 feet of snow overnight wasn't uncommon.

I have been looking at a 4x4 and am in love with the Cherokee sport body style. Looking for something fairly cheap but tough and durable.

It is a 2000 Cherokee sport with 184,000 kms. Which is roughly 114,000 miles, Looks decently taken care of. My only hesitance is the bit of rust and how much it would take for me to safety. Going to check it out tomorrow and just looking for some words of wisdom from anyone more knowledgable about these beautiful beasts

I would assume that, that's not 4200 USD...but if so the Id say it's worth about half that. Generally here in Ohio XJs in that condition go for 2-3k USD. But more than surface rust check for oil in the coolant, coolant in the oil, rust on the unibody, rust that's been painted over, oil residue on the underside or in the engine bay and just check for general issues being covered up-if they're trying to cover up stuff that means headaches down the road

Yeah that is in Canadian. I wouldn't expect to walk away paying the asking price either. If all goes to plan that is.

Lol I accidentally posted that before I was done and you were too fast for me to update it.

I will definitely be giving it a thorough looking over. I have seen a lot for cheaper but the mileage was much higher. And I am after something under 200,00 kms (120,000 miles), don't mind paying a bit more for something taken care of.

Thanks for the tips to look for

Look for rust in the rockers which is the metal under the doors and the floors. The spot on the red one looks like just surface rust to me where the bumper knocked the paint off.
