The box steel behind it isn't going to stop your front end from absorbing the impact in a crash.
Wait, not sure what you are arguing. Extra driver protection is not a minus, but a plus. The steel in the JK bumper is just as tough as a stock XJ bumper over most of its length. The ends are crimped some, and there are "impact" stubs that stick out, but I've had hands on both obviously. I'm not worried about the "toughness" of the JK over a stock XJ bumper. Besides, I don't think the stock XJ bumper is "stamped", but "extruded" (which is tons cheaper to make). I haven't researched that though, just makes sense considering the shape and lack of ends

Nonetheless...for most anyone interested in this project, the modification will be an improvement over a stock XJ bumper in so many aspects.

I just started working on the video clips. I'm not sure how long it'll take (I'm using this as an excuse to plan on the new MAC, which is my first). Stumbling like crazy. Just using iMovie for now. Will do Final Cut Pro X soon. For now...it is KISS time.

I realize you've put a lot of work into that....but I gotta say...

It's just plain ugly.

There are so many good looking and well built bumpers available, lot's of great DIY designs that are XJ specific.....
JK Bumpers just aren't meant to be bolted onto an XJ.

I'm not knocking the OP, but that is just hideous looking.

I'm sure the company you represent would appreciate you insulting a forum members rig

Son,
I started posting on this forum long before I became a vendor here.
I represent my own company, thank you very much.

Perhaps you need to go back and read what I wrote before you get your tit in a wringer.

Please quote where I bashed anyone or anyone's rig.

Let me save you some time...I didn't.

I stated my opinion about the appearance of the JK bumper bolted to an XJ.

If the OP like how it looks then that's all that matters in the long run. BUT...when you post pictures on a public forum you are inviting a critique of the content.

I really don't care how long you've been a member but re read your original post it comes off as your trying to nudge him in the direction of buying a bumper and I completely agree with your last statement though you did say it was hideous the pics he posted of it one this build don't do it justice you can see in this pic that he posted in another thread how he narrowed it and blended it into the oe bumper end caps

I stand by my opinion....JK bumpers are ugly...no matter what they are mounted on.

Not trying to get him to buy anything from anyone at all, simply stating facts. There are so many other options available, from ridiculously expensive to unbelievably cheap that are a better fit, a better design...and perform better too.

Owning an offroad company I would greatly appreciate if you could pout me in the direction of a cheap bumper cause I'm leaning towards the jk bumper I agree it doesn't look the best but for what it is its hard to beat

Its cool. Who knows...maybe I knocked some of his products for something. I mean...on this site....there is a serious lack of taste at times. I've probably should have bitten my tongue.

There are so many people that both here, elsewhere online and in person that say they really like (and keep in mind that's despite my horrible online posting behavior at time). His negative is about a ratio of 1:10. I can live with it. I'm not even saying it is the prettiest thing ever. If I really wanted good looking....I would never have bought a Jeep in the first place ;-)

Frankly I have YET to find a vendors bumpers I want to run out and buy right away. I kinda like some of the tube ones, but some of the flat sheet metal ones are nice, but so many don't fit the body lines, understand portion and ratio. I respect some DIYs as trail projects (like my own venture down this road with the JK bumper). Only thing preventing me from doing a steel bumper of my own is garage space and a larger welder.

Scour your local JY.
Learn to weld.
Ever heard of craigslist?
Tried the For Sale Forum here on on any other Jeep Forum?
Looked in the Vendor Forum here?

There are plenty of deals to be had if YOU do a little looking on your own.

Perhaps one of the mods should clean up this thread. I'm sure OP would appreciate it.

Any other comments should be handled via PM so this thread stays on Track.

My apologies to the OP for getting involved with derailing your thread.
