After looking around and reading some horror stories I think I might just play it safe and go with a xrc

I'm local to them, they have the basic bumpers in stock, I'm buying from them soonish after I start to work again and save a little. For the non-winch bumper, with a brush guard tube, and the gr.8 hardware it's just $290, which is great to me.

I recieved a front one for xmas, love it. I was apprehensive to order at first, due to the reviews. So i emailed them to ask about a turn-around time and they delivered. i also wasnt in a big hurry, i just wanted a piece of mind with the personal contact. If i remember correctly, most of those reviews were a few years ago. Being a small busisness owner myself, i chalked it up to growing pains.

Yes I did notice that the ones I read were from 2010. 5 years now they may be on the ball.

Looks like a well built bumper and a good price. I did notice notice the powder coat and hardware cost another $150 though.

$30 for gr.8 hardware, that's not much more than what tractor supply sells. I personally wouldn't want powder coat, if it's used it'll be scuffed here and there and rattle can paint is much easier to clean up.

Yeah, its about $5 worth of hardware at TSC. I like bed liner and rattle cans myself.

I'd like to see the mounting. It says it doesn't use the stock mounts but has frame extensions so at least its not just bolted to the sheet metal cross member.

If you're buying grade-8 hardware (which you should if you actually plan on using it for recovery) that is a lot more than $5 worth of hardware. In the case of the front bumper it is 12 1/2"X2" bolts (the brackets bolt to the bumper as well as the frame-rails), and 2 1/2"X4" Bolts (assuming you reuse your existing steering box bolts), plus nuts and washers, easily $25-$30 worth of hardware at your local TSC, Lowes, Hone-Depot, etc.

I'll agree on bed-liner or a rattle-can job though, I've heard a lot of cases of powder-coat on bumpers being damaged during shipping (many different manufactures) and rock chips and scratches/scuffs from off-roading/recovery are pretty much a guarantee.

Based on the mounting brackets it looks like the bumper is held on by three bolts, then uses the three stock mount holes, and the driver's side uses the steering box bolts while the passenger side uses two bolts along the frame.

The horror stories were enough to scare me off when I was looking at them.. I am along ways away.

Who knows though, they could have gotten better! Definitely use EBay or PayPal at the least.

Horror stories? Only thing i've read about was shipping issues, which c'mon their an older couple just doing this for some side money I doubt they use spreadsheets, more like notepads for orders. Companies like that aren't known to be as good as JCR but they are cheaper because they don't have such a facility or staff, but quality is just as good in the bumper, shipping eh that's where you get what you pay for (at least with them, other companies are different). Only structure issues I've read is from the people who run no bars and slammed hard or got hit on the corners, but I think they braced the corners more now. I've even read people hitting head on into trees and though the Jeep was lost, they bolted fine on the next one they got.

There are many many more... I just found it sketchy is all! Apparently the guy is a giant PITA to deal with and it can take months. They most certainly could have gotten better. I see Morris sells them now.. makes them somewhat more reputable in my eyes.
