New update went and spoke to owner about what i expected and he said he was researching how to install the floor pan he says hes seen where it was welded in and it was partially welded and sealer is used . Says it has to do with flexing. Helps keep welds from breaking?

This alone tells me he didn't know what he was doing. You cut the old out and weld in the new. He never cut the old out making a water trap.

X2, as for the "proper" way to put the new pan in (once the old is cut out of course), anywhere the new pan meets old should be a solid weld. There are two schools of thought for where the pan meets the frame rails. From the factory the pan was spot welded to the rails and seam sealer used to fill the gaps, some people say to do the new pan the same way, because they believe the flex this allows lessens the risk of tearing/cracking the relatively thin pan, other's say to weld it solid for increases strength.

The fact that the shop you are paying to do this has to "research" it is definitely a bit scary and says they haven't done this before.

I'd say the guy did a ****y job. I would have just done it myself and out whole new pans in. If you don't know how, how's a good time to learn. Here's my project.

Should have gone to a weld shop where guys do this all day everyday not a performance shop where they took the job just to get your money.

It's already been welded in. Leave it alone unless you want to cut the floor out and fix it right.

The floor pans should always be fully welded in not panel adhesive.Only places you should use panel adhesive is like on a quarter panel or anything not structural which the floor pans kinda are. After the pans are welded in they should be seam sealed just in case then standard sand prime and paint over them.I kinda understand why the guy didn't know its a performance shop when you really needed a body shop to do this work.

This sounds like this place was a "Low Bidder" on the work should have went to a shop known for quality work. Then not told them how to do the job to begin with, as you get older you will learn these lessons the way most of us did, the hard way costing you money a few times.
