Is anyone using Corbeau 2-Inch Retractable Harness Belts?
My XJ seat belts are failing. Especially my driver's belt. It likes to come unbuckled by itself all the time!
I'm interested in upgrading to the Corbeau 2-Inch Retractable Harness Belts. Has anyone used them happily? Or unhappily? haha
http://www.quadratec.com/products/24248_300X_PG.htm
There's only one review and it's pretty bad. Quadratec says it will mount to factory mounting points. The reviewer seems to be saying it won't work properly and will be unsafe. He also says you will lose the back seats. I don't understand that statement. Maybe one of the mounts has to be a the rear wheel well??
Will it mount and function safely without a harness bar?? Does it interfere with passengers in the back seat?? Perhaps the non-retractable version would be better for the XJ application? IDK.

Short answer thats total crap for safety and is worse then your stock 3 point seat.I would just replace your seat belts with used factory ones or new factory style. If you want a 4 point you need a harness bar for the shoulder straps to be safely anchored.Anything else like that in a roll over can come lose or tighten either are bad.

Damn. Then I don't know what I can/should get. Can't get them from Jeep dealers anymore. Not that I would, because they wanted over $200 for one!

Get some junkyard pulls, or just get some good 5-point harnesses if you really want to be secure.
Shoulder-harnesses will require a harness bar such as this. You will break your back if you try to bolt the shoulder harnesses to the floor without a proper harness bar.

You can go to the junkyard and get a used seat belt and buckle cheap and should be easy to get.The problem with yours is the latch in the buckle not holding the seat belt metal piece in fully right ?If its that you can just replace that piece with a good used one from the junkyard.

If it is just the latch, you can pull those from many different vehicles. My dad has a YJ that had the same issue. Not many YJs in the yards around us. He pulled the latch side from a Chevy. Just find a vehicle that has the same size buckle in it.
As far as aftermarket belts. They have to be mounted to a harness bar. If they are mounted to the floor, it will compress your spine when you are thrown forward in an accident.

100% correct on needing a roll cage and an approved seat for harness use and even then I would never trust a "retractable" harness to protect me in a crash. I didn't look but I'm sure they are not approved by any racing body's for use.
