1.5" inch lift question
First I want to say I really like Tia forum and have learned a lot since I've been reading here and an glad I finally joined.
I posted a thread titled "XJ will not start. Suggestions?" A couple days ago about an excellent 89 jeep XJ inside and out with only 79,000 miles on it.
I will most likely buy it Monday and try to get it running by changing fuel filter, CPS sensor, etc. hopefully I get it going cause it's too nice a jeep to waste away but I'm only giving $350 for it so it's good either way.
Assuming I get it going I would like to put a small 1.5" lift on this jeep. Purely for looks. I do not off-road or mud. I do go fishing and haul firewood in the winter so that's about it. This will be a daily driver.
I will be running 15" rims and no bigger than 235/75r15 tires as I'm not big on giant tires or rims. Also in case it matters I will be getting chrome VERY slightly offset rims. Just to stick out barely past fender flares, almost even with.
What is the cheapest way to lift 1.5" without making the jeep drive weird or putting strain on other parts? So I guess the cheapest but safest way.
Here is a picture of what I'm going for. This may be a 2" lift if so then a 2" lift would be good.

First off WELCOME.
This companies kit comes with BPE's front and back so you can use std length shocks if you want. "Click for pricing" out from "Budget lift kits" will show options and prices.

On another thread I was reading someone said to get a 1.5-2" shackles for the back and 1.5" coil spacer for the front. That's all it said. Is this a good idea or will it screw something up? It would only cost $70-80. That seems cheap as heck.
Sorry I know absolute nothing about lifts.

^^yep. A lot depends on the condition of your existing suspension. For the back some say shackles, some say AALs,and all say no to blocks. For the front spacers seem to be ok. But most who have been that route say to get a complete kit with replacement leafs and coils IF you can swing it.

How to check and know if suspension and all that is good enough?
Money is an issue and I will most likely have to do this myself by asking and watching tutorials and I'm pretty good at following directions. I don't have the money for a garage and it's obvious I don't know about lifts so maybe I should just leave it stock even though I would love a 1.5"-2" lift. I also love learning but I couldn't afford to screw nothing up.

I wouldn't think so. Just that I ran across an old thread on another forum where a veteran member with a lot of posts said he did. No specifics were given though.
