Default XJ unibody fab thread

Ok as some of you know my unibody was shot in a critical spot.

I cut out the section i needed out of my old jeep. Then i cleaned it up and cut that in half. After grinding and cleaning i left the old unibody and welding on the two pieces on the sides. I did this because i wanted to keep the geometry and wanted to make sure the leaf spring mount was in exact the spot.

and there the unibody is fixed! It rides alot better now and sits up higher in the back. Im very happy with my work i did. I sprayed the welds and raw metal with rust stop flat black paint and will finish the underneath then undercoat it before snow fall.
watcha think?!

floor needs to tie into the outer side of the mount, or box it in or something. you will just keep flexing that inner weld nut until it eventually cracks off

Seeing the extent of the cancer, you will want to pull your rear seat and the carpeting underneath.

You will need to fix the rust there.

2X on tieing the floor into the mount.
Might want to use something a tad bit heavier than sheet metal.
I used some 1/8" steel when I did mine.

Thanks guys. I do plan on tying the floor in with that or box it in with square tubing. thats next year job. Other than that it turned out better than i thought, ride wise and lifted the ***** up back to normal

i would recommend using grade 8 hardware. i never had good luck using grade 5, too many break.

Mine wasn't QUITE that bad...

I'm tying into the 2"x6"x.188" rocker with 2"x3"x.25", and then building off that.
