Comparing those two is like dog doo to cat doo... save a little longer and buy a Hobart handler or similar (from the big 3)
Remember to check craigslist too

Not 100% an option. I mean, it is still an option, but for 2 beginners not looking to really do big jobs and not able to spend a ton of money? Ehhhhhhh.... haha.

I'm just saying, out of those two, which would you have to choke down and would rather deal with more?

Not bad (from someone who has barely ever welded).

It's a 170 Amp-DC, 240 Volt, MIG/Flux Cored Welder from H/F. I don't have gas, yet.

How do you like it? I'm looking at them and am considering that or the 180 Amp one.

For me, I think it's going to be great. I waited until I got a coupon to buy it for I think $158. I would have bought the 180, but the price difference at the time was substantial enough for me. You have more tunability with the 180. I can't wait to get the tank so I can go true MIG.

I see a coupon somewhere for the 170 all the time, but I never have the money..
I might just have to save for the 180, unless I need to learn how to weld immediately

How much are the tanks?

Hey Guys,

FWIW - Eastwoods has their welders on sale. I just bought their 175 amp MIG welder, bundled with their spool gun AND their welding cart for $529. Shipped it was $585-ish. Its a Chinese welder, but reviews on Amazon for this particular model are very good. I have Eastwoods 200 amp TIG machine, and their Plasma cutter as well. Both had alot of good reviews, seem to function pretty well for what I need and were certainly a good value.

Eastwoods stands behind their stuff, cares about satisfying their customers, and seems to put alot of effort into bringing a good product to market for a fair price. So if you're in the market for a welder, their machines might be worth a look.
