My *** is too damn wide for them and I don't like how they hit my nuts when I get out of them, that's why not.
Dread driving them at work, at least the 2012+ have newer, better seats.

bumping this instead of starting a new thread... has anyone else tried this? I am about to attempt to swap a set of 04-05 wrx seats into the xj. Figured it's an inventive solution instead of simply replacing the driver's seat that has held too many big butts over the years. Subaru got it right with these seats

I used some Subaru seats from the wreckers. I *think* the came from a legacy so I'm not sure if they are the same as the WRX seats.
Anyway, I'm glad I did it but it was way more work then I thought it would be. I need all the head room I can get in an XJ so I couldn't just bolt the Jeep rails to the bottom of the Subaru seat rails. I had to custom fab (weld) some mounting tabs to the bottom of the Subaru seats. I also had to clearance the transmission tunnel which was a ton of work. A BFH didn't cut it so I had to cut out part of the trans tunel and weld in some sheet metal.
Glad I did it: YES
Would I do it again: I'd probably scope out other seats to see if there is an easier route to go.
Subaru leather seats. I believe from an early 2000's Legacy?
Installed after a lot of work.
One more photo for the heck of it.

I've recently installed some WRX seats in my XJ and I see nobody in this thread has posted pictures of the adaptor bracket they've made. Because the Subaru seats mount to rails horizontally and the XJ rails mount seats vertically, a bracket needs to be fabricated to support the change. Here is what I ended up with made from 1/8-inch flat bar, 3/16-inch flat bar, 1/8x1-3/4-inch angle iron, and 1/8x3/4-inch angle iron.
And the finished product:
