simple quick release mud flaps(shackle relocation)
I was iformed by jonny that my jeep required mud flaps. While this is probably the least complicated thing I have built, it is probably the most usefull(as far as saving me harassment from the police)
Just thought I would post cause it may help someoe else, so on with it!
I was thinking of ways to add some quick release mud flaps as I travel and came up with this.
I used the extra holes in the relocation brackets I made a ways back as a mounting braket.
Started with some 12" pieces of 1/2 cold roled solid tube I had laying around. Measured the end and drilled a small hole in the end for a hitch pin clip.
Then welded on some 11" long 2" wide 1/8 flat stock I had laying around. Drilled some mounting hole for the mud flap, and bolted on some poly flaps from a semi.(used oe flap cut in half)
Found flaps local, but can be found here>

View of flaps istalled.
Welded a little"tab" to fit ito the other "extra" hole to prevent the flaps from swinging. this also prevents the need for a steel "anti sail". Litle "tab" only fits through first plate.
They pass through both sides of the brakets, and are retained by a simple "hitch pin clip".
Super basic, but keeps me legal, plus I can remove and store in seconds.
