Rock Sliders
I have never fabbed anything, but think I want to give it a try. I have access to a welder and want to try to make some rocker gaurds/sliders. I like the JCR ones with the extra bar sticking out to protect from side impact. Being a newb to fab, what type of materials should I use? I mostly will be using a stick welder. Also, does anyone have any specs/measurements from their sliders I can use as a start?

use the search to find pics/designs also look at all the manufacturers websites cause they usually have decent pics of how they are mounted. Basically you are gonna bolt them to the frame and the pinch seam. materials depend on how hard you use them. I would go w/ 3/16 or similar box or rectangle tubing and maybe some hrew tubing (hot rolled electric welded) basically your looking for mild steel tubing that you can get locally and will work. for me there is a guy that sells metal about 30 mins from my house in just about any size. for reference look at this website.

That should be a start. basically plan plan design mockup plan plan cut weld bolt. good luck
