I always thought that raising the corners where the tail lights were at, were kinda dumb. Also, when I built the front bumper, I didn't think I would be crawling the jeep that much, but with a lot of wheeling lately, it keep getting more body damage, I started to not care about how well the rear bumper would follow the body lines. I just needed extra protection in the rear (insert a pun here) that still look somewhat decent. Second reason, is money. Most of the material here is free. Only thing that I had to buy so far is the weld nuts, which was 25 pieces for $9. I also always liked the looks of 2x6 tubing in the rear. Not the front. Ha.

Oh yea. About the gaps, I try to keep the bumper away from the body a little more than the stock bumper and/or most aftermarket ones because of deflection when hitting or landing on the rocks. A little more "cushion" as to speak.

yes sir. Free to me, but somebody else paid for it. Lol

I have rear stiffeners that's been sitting on my shop floor for past two years. I still need to burn it on the jeep. Ha. Probably gonna do that next

Good work man. At first, I wasn't quite grasping the concept of your mounting strategy. The build really cleared it up. Great work my friend.

So today I had time to finish up the rear bumper.

Took the shackle relocation brackets out, to trim it a little because it was obstructing a portion of the original bumper weld nuts, then I was able to drill it out.

Took the hitch and skid plate off. Some of the holes were off on the 2x4 tube nutstrips so I had to use a burr to grind away portions of the holes on uniframe and on the brackets.

Finished welding the crossmember together then mounted it. Painted the rear bumper and mounted it on.

Then I was able to mount the skid plate. I can't use the hitch because it was interfering with the bumper anyway. I plan to eventually weld on a receiver tube on it someday.

Anybody wanna give me two shackles for the rear? Ha.

I guess I could say this bumper build is at a conclusion.

The bumper did really well at Rausch creek. Landed it on rocks few times when coming off ledges or obstacles. Very sturdy

But yeah the tubes fit perfectly inside the frame otherwise.
