Lawn-edging Fender Flares
Rather than forking out 400 bucks for some fancy flat flares, here's a mod that took about 50 bucks and 3 hours.
Step 1: Drill small holes into the edge of the flares
Step 2: Attach L brackets (used 11 nuts and bolts, all depends on how far you want your spacing/how much your fenders are trimmed) Mine are spaced at 4.5"
*Don't over-tighten the brackets to the flares because the soft plastic might crack, just make them "snug"
Step 3: Drill holes into the quarter panel equal to the number of brackets you are using, same spacing (common sense - I just lined them up with the brackets already fastened to the flare, and marked a dot at the drill point)
Step 4: Fasten nuts and bolts to the quarter panel
*Tip: When drilling, be careful not to puncture the washer fluid reservoir on the driver's side...found that out the hard way!
Step 5: For the ladies, slap on some spray-in bed liner

Yeah, the only downside is the shaping didn't turn out like I thought it would, too curvy. I think I'll try to form them better tomorrow

Not sure where you're getting flexy flares for 50 bucks...Rusty's are 179 for a pair lol. Looks are for hummers...

haha! thanks, just finished the rear flares yesterday. They're all a little more "round" than I was hoping, but they're growing on me.

probably one of the best lookin garden flares ive seen. i was gonna do some then found out today my wife order some bushwacker cut outs that'll be here in a few days!

They look pretty cool, I was thinking I might do this, I would love B-wackers but don't feel like spending all that dough on those when I could do this for like under $50.

This seems to be a trend catching on. Done right, they look good. I like how simple you trimmed them and showed an easy install. This came out good and clean

Thanks a lot guys. That inner lip worked out perfectly with the L brackets. they were just the right length. And it also hides the bolts, its almost like they were meant to be fenders LOL. I'm pretty happy with them considering it was my first time doing it. I think if I spent a little more time with accurate measurements, cutting, and forming, they would look almost like the Bushwackers.

they turned out pretty good but i think they'd look a little better if you could get them to follow the contour of the actual fender if you know what i mean just get some of the roundness out of them if that makes sense

im going to do this soon. just a thought though, insert a aluminum rod into the round part and bend accordingly to the fender. heat it slowly with a heat gun(not to hot or you'll deform the plastic and the remove the alluminum rod, or you can skip all that and just leave the rod in there to hold the shape. just my .02. Great job btw! i would just try to fix the roundness.
