Homemade Shackle Relocation Brackets
#136
Getting ready to make a set of these, but I am just looking for an opinion. The OP shows brackets that are 8 7/8" long with 6 holes in them. If you knew where you wanted/needed the upper mount for you shackle to be would you really need the extra holes and just cut off the extra material? I am planning on using the stock shackles and it looks like there may be an opportunity for it to get jammed into the bracket to the rear. Would it be wrong to just cut off the excess from the bracket once you have found you sweat spot? Leaving maybe a hole or two on either side for future shackle and spring upgrades?
Cut it on an angle toward the rear and you should be golden.

Hey there guys.
Nice work on brackets. I'm am building a 1996 xj. And I'm finishing up a full boxed frame and have wrapped stock shackle brackets being all in stock location.
Ne ways went to put 3x3 square tube up in there and no way is it going up into there.
My question is are you making stock uniframe stretch?
By pounding tubing in there
Next question any thoughts on ??
A. Cutting stock shackle bolt retaining nut out??
B. Use 2.5 inch square tubing and make up 1/2 inch on each side of retaining nut??
