Anyone mind to post the dimension use for the two square tube? I assume its 3 x 3 and 3 x 2 5/8. How about the length and the thickness?

I used 3x3 tubing and I was able to put it up in the shackle boxes with light tapping. (1999 xj)

Just tried to make these using 3x3x1/4in tubing and it was too wide to fit into the shackle boxes. 98 xj. Tried to lightly tap it up in place with a hammer and just wasnt close enough for me. I confirmed the measurements on the box. Besides it being a bit too wide the 4-3/4 length was a bit too long . Looks like the rear bumper bracket bolts got in the way.

Going to go with the 2.5 3/16 angle welded together for the upper portion. Looks like my shackle with bushing/sleeve is about 2-5/8in (2.625). Sticking the angle together and overlapping them will leave an od of 2-11/16in (2.6875) which should fit up there a bit better than the 3in for me. Also doing it this way wont interfere with the bumper mount bolts since the upper portion will now be open.

Weird cause 3x3 tube fit in the shackle boxes on my 99 perfectly. I only had to lightly tap it up

We had the same problem as davedude44.
That's why we did it in reverse on our video we posted a few pages ago.
Guess it's not the same for all XJs.

Thought a buddy and I had was maybe when I installed my lift shackles I over tightened them which caused the factory box to deform? Other than that we were pretty baffled that it fit for some but not for others.

I had to do more than lightly tap, but they went in nice and snug. Been holding up well too.

what's the location callout on the hole up top? As in coordinates or what ever.

Just cut a piece of tube to fit the shackle box and then mark your hole to drill it.

Getting ready to make a set of these, but I am just looking for an opinion.

The OP shows brackets that are 8 7/8" long with 6 holes in them. If you knew where you wanted/needed the upper mount for you shackle to be would you really need the extra holes and just cut off the extra material?

I am planning on using the stock shackles and it looks like there may be an opportunity for it to get jammed into the bracket to the rear. Would it be wrong to just cut off the excess from the bracket once you have found you sweat spot? Leaving maybe a hole or two on either side for future shackle and spring upgrades?
