This seemed like a fun first project with my welder. I went to the local steel shop and picked up the necessary steel from their scrap for $11, even having them cut the 3x3 for me. Not bad! Since I have never really used my welder, it's not the prettiest. It think it should hold up though. I was able to get one side ready for drilling. Here's what I got so far!

Kick I really really hate to be "that guy" but I'm not so sure I'd trust those.

Paint them atleast. If any cracks start forming you'll be able to tell pretty quick.

Nothing wrong with being that guy. I know they're ugly, but I did use a lot of heat where the angle meets box and used multiple passes and slowed down to make sure there was penetration. The driver side should come out even better now that I have some experience. They will def get some Grape Ape purple so I can keep an eye on them.

Thanks!

BTW hudson. Yours were obviously the ones I was copying and I was so tempted put ours siide-by-side with the comment "NAILED IT" lmao. I think I'm going to go out and by a spool of quality .035 flux core. That H/F wire is as bad as everyone says, especially when combined with a noob!

Got mine finished. Bought a spool of Lincoln .035" and it is a night and day difference. Definitely rides much better!

How much lift are you getting from doing this with stock shackles? I'm at 3" and don't really want to go much higher but my shackle angle is 90 degrees.

Not trying to be a troll, or snobby, but come on. I refuse to use hot rolled angle iron on my rig. Yeah, its probably strong enough for shackle boxes, but I cringe whenever I see that stuff. I know... party pooper.

Alright cool, definitely need to learn how to weld and go make a set of these now. I think I saw some 3x3 1/4" and angle iron sitting around my garage too.
