looks good.
how far did you tie in the mounting bracket along the frame rail?
what about the receiver, are you able to get to the hitch pin hole?
did you weld both front and back of the shackle mounts?
now i'd grab some flap discs and clean up those welds and smooth it all out.
other than that, good job.
what are you planning on using for a spindle for the rear tire swing out?

Thanks guys. The brackets tie in all the way back to the last hole in the frame, 7 bolts per side i believe.
I cut a whole out of the bottom plate to access the hitch pin hole.
Yes, both front and back of the shackle mounts are welded.
I figured I would just leave the welds because they wont hardly be noticable after the bedliner.
As far as a hinge/spindle for the rear swing out tire carrier, i dont know for sure yet. Input on ideas for the hinge would be awesome!

cool, sounds like you built it right.
as for a spindle, i used a trailer hub and just cut the flange off except for a 2 inch section where a stud hole is, then i just welded my 2x2 ontop of that and plug welded through the stud hole.
as for the tire mount, i cut up an old d30 hub and welded that on the same angle as my rear window.

Thanks caged, i got it now
Also, does anyone have any ideas or write ups for a latch for the rear tire carrier? I have seen some that just used a pin and some that look like they used a tj door handle. Im looking for something that locks.
Thanks

both my jeeps just have a hitch pin welded into the swing and through a back plate for the resting perch, then a lynch pin to hold it shut.
you can kinda see in this pic.
