Default rocker/rock sliders build

ok i started tonight and i left my camera at the shop but heres the jist i cut the rockers out (one started to bubble the other i stoved in) and am welding in 2x4 steel tube and off of that i am welding tube sliders...

so that being said the point of the jumpstart thread is:

how far out do you guys with sliders come off the body? i'm looking at about 6in out from the rocker but it looks excessive but i want them to protect the sides from trees a little too...opinions...being finished after work tomorrow so quick response is good thank you.

mine stick out about 2 inches past the tire to keep rocks away from the doors and theyve saved me from rolling over too having them out that far

Mine needs this same thing shortly too. If you go with the 2x6 then you can have some overhang to protect it better I think. And where are you welding too? The floor board and the inner rocker (biframe like piece) or do you leave a gap between the floor and the new piece and weld to the bottwof the door piece and the inner rocker? Thanks

Sounds good. You going to brace it into the frame rails?

I'm going to angle mine up a little but I'm leaving my stock rockers. Looks pretty good though!
