I brought a Cherokee a few weeks ago. I always wanted a front receiver hitch and my old bumper was beat up a little. I decided to make my own out of 4" flat metal. I think it turned out pretty well.

not really a home brew but I did make these on my own time at work.
New sway bar end links.
i made them from high grade stainless steel with PTFE bushings. The end links are painted with black silicone based paint for an extra line of protection. They work very well at holding the jeep to the road better. It now stays nice and flat around turns and wile changing lanes on the highway.

that's a beaut! Did you weld it with arc or mig? I am going to take a few welding classes at the local welding school which also sells metal and has open shop hours to work on stuff with their tools. I want to build a front bumper like that!

I just used the factory bumper holes. This Jeep only be used to back in empty wagons occasionally and won't be used for off roading.
I used an arc welder. It went together really well but took lots of time grinding and using a flapper wheel. A tig welder would probably be even easier.

Yeah I have no welding experience, yet, but I like the simplicity of it. And I don't mind the extra grinding time, just more experience for me! Lol but I'd add holes for the fog lights I have and make it a bit less wide but I still love your design.

The flat metal was 61" long and with the end caps it's 61.5" wide. Thanks for the compliment. One thing I did do when I was tacking it together I put thin washers on the inside of my mounts so I could put the bumper on easy after I finished grinding and welding.
