home made tow bar
ive started one and been thinkin alot about ideas from others, so far ive taken 2x2x3/16 and made a "v" and then a short piece between the "v" to bolt the ball receiver too, and towards the ends of the legs i took some 4inch flat bar and welded on there to keep the legs in a constant distance from each other, towards the other end of the V i did the same thing for some added strength, ill do what i can for picks tomorrow, btw its about 6 ft long lol

aahh... let me tell u... thats the best feeling there is... i wanted to burn my tires off at the front gate... lol... until i got home and went to pull my impala off the trailer and it had no brakes... then the next day my $1200 injector pump went out on my old dodge... reality set in knowing i could just walk to work or hitch a ride with my room mate or something... lol

I`ve always thought about trying to make something like this. I can`t count the number of times over the years I`ve needed to tow someones broke down car back home and either pushed it or tried using straps or chains with the obvious problems that they create. I have access to a band saw and we have a welding shop where I work so it would be no problem. Just need to toy with an easy design.

BTW this is custom fit to my front bumper but once i get this all done im gonna making an "adapter" with some square tube and tabs so that if for some stupid reason i need to use the tow bar on the back then i can, the need for the adapter comes from the shackles on the back not being the same distance apart as the front

oh yeah clean up is still coming i still have to add braces on the other side in the same spots as those and then cut the top and bottom out of the two legs so that when i go over a hill or something the tow bar will tilt, i also got some old ubolts im gonna weld on to help keep the safety chains from dragging and then get the ball receiver next time i get to harbor freight
