Or do you think the arch is enough to even worry about
i have no stock racks so the way im assuming to do mine is make some sort of gutter mounts, seeing as i cant mount it to the stock racks i dont have...otherwise itll be a nut and bolt through the roof lol.

it made perfect sense. after reading your post now im thinking of going to the junk yard and get 2 or more factory bars. as far as the arch in them, one of mine was bent to heck. i was able straiten it back. it you can find the right size tube to fit over the sliding locking end that my friend would be MONEY

As far as the gutter rack mounts, this mount design from JCR Offroad's rack looks very easy to duplicate.

Mmm...welding galvanized EMT. Did that yesterday. I hate breathing that crap though. It'll make ya sick.

Good work on the rack man. I got 5 pieces of that EMT for .27 a foot. Cheap an easy.

Hay all 1st post here , great site . Anyway I used 2 4' chain link gates from Home depot. just remove the chain link you have the frame. then cut 4'' emt for the the up rights or how ever tall you like then drill and bolt together. You can use 4' gates or 6' for biger rack. I will try and post up some pic.

im about halfway done with mine. used 3/4s instead of an inch, seems pretty strong still. mines about 6' by 3', bent the front/back pieces so the sides are straight. to connect everything, i bought 36" of 1/2" black pipe, the OD of the black pipe is slightly larger than the ID of the 3/4 EMT (i had to turn the black pipe down around .050 ish on a lathe to get it to fit). made 3" plugs to connect the EMT internally, looks pretty nice. thats about where im at right now, have to screw everything together still. also, to connect the top and bottom rails, cut up some solid sheet metal (idk exactly what size, 3/16 maybe? it was just laying around and i grabbed it), cut it into 4" x 2" pieces, then putting it all together and throwing some black on it.

im thinking of how to get some sort of floor on there or a few rails or something and the arch also had me thinkin for a while. what if, you used 3/4" or 1" towards to outside and 1/2" towards the middle?? ill draw up a napkin sketch on my lunch break haha.

What did you use the top fence rail for? Looking forward to doing this within the month. I priced it today at home depot and it was only $40-$50.

he used it to link the two pieces of conduit together. the conduit will slide right into the top fence rail. are you saying the top fence rail is 40 to 50 buck at home depot? just go to a local fence building business and ask them how much a piece. they will probably just give it to you for free. thats what my local place did. its used but straight. their just happy to get the used stuff out of their yard
