Default High Cleareance 2x6 Rockers

Sup guys started my rocker cutout today. Pretty much doing them the same as Ericsxj over on jeepforum. Bought 12' of 2x6x3/16", 1" angle iron and 3" flat bar. I will have to trim about 1.75" off all the bottoms of my doors an weld back a strip of sheet metal.

Default Sweet...

Lookin' good! Two questions for you so far... What do/did you do to get around the seat belt nut and various other bits that come through?
And where did you find that cool angle cube thingy???

I trimmed those bolts that stick out, down just a little ways with the grinder. The 2x6 doesn't sit all the way flat back to the inner rocker because of the way its molded so u just trim the bolts down a bit. And we found that at a store in Colorado called Rockler. It's a fine woodworking tool shop. I'm sure u can but it online though!

Cool.... Are you going to turn yours into air tanks as well? Does the cube have a magnet on it or no since its for woodworking?

I may add in air inlets later on if this jeep ever gets to the point of OBA and air lockers but thats way down the road. I know a guy who did that and got about 5 gallons total capacity. Perfect for his ARBs I guess. And ya it does have a magnet. I checked my jeep for level on the shop floor, upside down on my hitch

I know the thread I read with the air tank mod said it was kind of a PITA to get them air tight... so maybe you'll want to check your welds now since its still kinda early in the mod build? I love the idea of the extra capacity and not having to carry an actual tank somewhere. Thanks for the feedback and keep on building... looks great! Are you gonna do the little "boat side" parts too?
Off to google the cube....

Ya emphasis on little haha. Only 3" running from my angle iron corner up to my rocker. That's not as much boatside as it is just a stilt/brace to support the whole rocker

I think so too. Some prefer the pivot point of regular sliders, but I really like this way and it's different than most have!

Here's what I just did... Cut off my shetty looking cut n fold which was all rusty. I'm gonna get some sheet metal and reline the inner fender. Then bondo and finish the corner. Looks dumb with 31s. Im pretty sure by now I can fit 36/37s but in not going bigger than 35

Don't criticize the welds unless you've ever welded with gas less flux core wire.
