no recording with the current setup, although I could add a dvr type device if I wanted to later. the monitor has 2 inputs, so most of the time it'll just be a second screen for my dvd player. little easier for my kids to watch from the back.
as for the camera.. it only costs me $20 to replace it if need be, so I'm not sweating rocks and stuff. pretty sure that should be a safe spot tho. I'm more concerned with how it's going to handle getting dunked when I go thru deeper water. we shall see

Go to Home Depot or a place like that and pick up a can of "Never Wet" it's made by Rustoleum. YouTube it as well so you can see what it does. That should solve that problem.

so another part of the build is almost done, so yay progress!
ever been up in some woods on your own and get to a point where you wish you had a spotter along with you? well I have, and I have a semi-fix for just that scenario.. the footing cam! lol
basically I had an extra monitor in my junk drawer and was brainstorming ideas on how it might be useful in the jeep. this is what I came up with..
camera flush mounted into the transfer case crossmember
wire runs thru crossmember and out the end, then immediately up into jeep under the driver's seat
all the overhead goes into the pillar and up, so there's no mess up top to look at. the loom you see will be hid later with another project
and this is the extra monitor I had.. there's a toggle switch on the dash that powers up the screen and the camera at the same time, so it's only on when I actually need it. I plan on building my own overhead console that will house the screen and my cb. that'll be next on the list, so stay tuned.

Btw, great job on the drawers in the back! I might have to clone yours for my XJ since I have absolutely zero storage management in my Jeep.

like I said, at $20 a pop it won't break my heart if and when I need to replace it. not hard either since there's a connection stuffed into the crossmember.
good news tho.. finally found my liner material. was wandering around big lots and found a roll of grey 1/4" anti-fatigue mat. 36x93 for $18! cut down a piece and glued it on last night before I left work. looks great, and provides a bit of cushioning when weight it put on it. and I have plenty leftover, so I'm thinking I'm gonna line the drawers with it as well. should help with stuff rattling around back there.

I was actually thinking about that the other day. I was guessing it would get a bit loud in there will all that ammo floating around in the drawers. it's looking great as always. cant wait to see it finished.

and I finally found my extra vinyl, so I should be able to the drawer fronts rewrapped as soon as I get the downtime at work
