I think you are the first person who I have ever heard say they never use the windshield sprayers and threw them out. Makes me wonder where you're planning to use this thing where you'll never get any mud on the windshield that you need to spray off. LOL

I run piaa wipers, and I use their silicone wipes to treat my windshield.. wipes right off. worst case scenario, I keep a small scraper/squeegie in my glovebox (not that I've ever needed it)
when you live in the PNW, you get used to rain and dirty windows.. lol

I've been using the vast amount of knowledge and expertise on this site for the past year and cannot express how much I have learned about mechanics, electrics, woodworking, metal fab, cheap silly mods, etc. However, the ingenious ideas and remarkable skill in this build finally convinced me to create an account. Awesome job uber, and thanks a ton for sharing it with us!
Your cargo storage solution got me amped to do something similar with mine. I lack the talent you have for working with wood, so I simplified your design a bit using a hinged lid instead of drawers (got the idea from some other peoples' designs on here). I made a model using Sketchup last night, so if anyone is interested I can shoot you the Sketchup file with the dimensions, cuts, etc.
P.S. Sorry if this is hijacking! I put it in here because your design influenced it heavily, but if you'd prefer, I can move it to its own thread.

Beach Bum
Holds camp kitchen, tools and recovery gear. Drink bottle crates fit tight and work like drawers.

I finally got off my lazy butt today and assembled my copycat design box based off uber's original (pages 1-5 in this thread). Still got a bit of work to do (on the rifle rack in particular), but it's coming along nicely. Thanks again for the ideas and inspiration from this thread!
Edit: If anyone has figured out a good sleeping platform solution that can stay in the jeep full time, I'd really appreciate some ideas!

that looks great! keep up the good work
as for the sleeping platform, I've already mapped out my solution.. it's going to be a metal frame with expanded metal mesh over it. to store it, I'll add a couple sections of c channel to the underside of my yet-to-be-built roof basket. the sleep shelf will slide into it when it's not in use.
