Default to chop? or not to chop?

among all the other things im planning on doing i was thinking about chopin my xj. what are some of the pros and cons of it. i mean aside from it lookin just awesome. i was thinking about maybe trying to add a k-5 blazer tailgate to it if i do. that way i can roll down the back window. that would be neat especially if i take the doors of like i want to. tell me what you think

Cutting too much sheet metal off of a uni-body vehicle makes the body weak. A K5 tailgate is pretty wide to fit on a XJ.
Personaly I don't like chopped XJ's I think they look like a retarted pick up truck, but if I were going to chop one, it I would do something similar to this.

If you chop, be sure to add a roll gage, to help stiffen it up, or you can just add some frame stiffners along the whole frame. Look at TNT's for the center. Look over on NAXJA in the vendors area there is a guy selling the fronts. You have to make your own on the rear.. shouldnt be but so hard.

everyones doing it... lol When I have to move back to FL and sell my jeep here I'm going to try to find a project xj and chop the top, it's going to be strictly a mud truck though. Not many rock trails in east central FL. I'd make too much money selling my jeep here not to do it..
down payment on a house > shipping my jeep back to the states.

If you got a 4door I say go for it. If it's a 2 door I think it'd look like a bronco wanna-be from the few I've seen. Just my .02
