We don't ban unless someone is an absolute douche with no regaurd for rules or complete disrespect of other forum members. That's why we send PMs trying to rectify the situation before things get ugly. Yes this is the web, yes we all have different opinions that clash but we must also retain a certain sense of civility seeing as we are all here to have a good time and converse. We have dedicated sections to pick on each other and joke around but not in Tech sections where people come for help. I openly admit that some can't take honest criticism but it's to be expected to a degree when you ask for an opinion. Either take the advice or just move on.
As for any member needing help that they feel they can't find here, please PM one of us and we will take the time to help you. It may be frustrating at times but its what we are here for.
Now then...BIG BUMPIN' OH YEAH!!!!

I didn't take the time to read through all 650+ responses, but based on the first post...

If the site and/or admins are going to define "fabrication" in the very narrow terms of building crap out of metal, why not just rename this part of the forum "Custom Metal Fabrication/Welding" to avoid confusion?

We've discussed this in one of the 650+ pages. Look at Wikipedia's definition of fabrication. Here, we call it fabrication if you make the part you are installing. This is kind of exclusive to all materials, not just metal, though most projects are made solely out of metal. this is not the place for simple modifications like lifts, radio installs, headliner fabric color choices, questions regarding how to fabricate something, or projects involving pre bought parts (diy weld-together kits are a grey area)

This is the place for completed/in progress projects, not brainstorming, idea gathering or contemplation.

+1 Jerry...This is not the area for speaker boxes, radio installs or chat of welding. This is for actual projects. Wanna talk or ask questions? Take it to chat. There are a few older posts here that don't fall under that guideline, but they are grandfathered in due to age of the original post. This has been discussed many times here. The rules are not hard or difficult to adhere to. Yet somehow every once in awhile you get people who don't agree. But there it is. LOL

I'm not saying that you should diverge from what you want this part of the forum to be about. However, it seems that people misunderstanding what is supposed to go here is a long-standing and recurring problem. Yes, you can say people should read the stickies and "follow the rules", and that is indeed true. But how many people read all the stickies in every part of every forum they are a member of? Not many I';d venture. All I was suggesting was that perhaps a simple descriptive change to the title of this part of the forum might go an awful long way in preventing the kind of posts many of you don't want here.
Part of my job as an IT Director for my company is establishing various shared network locations for users to store data and keep it organized. At last count it was over 167 gigabytes of data contained in thousands of separate folders and subfolders.
If there are some things I've learned over the years dealing with people, it would be:

• People don't always remember the "rules", especially if they only read them once, and that counts double if the one time they read it was long ago.
• Giving your folders/directories/sections clear and descriptive names, that actually mean something to the average user without them having to look up definitions, serves as a regular reminder for them of what is supposed to go where, and they get to see and be reinforced about it every time they go to drop info somewhere. In other words, your choice of naming conventions can either help or hurt you ongoing efforts to organize information.

Again, I'm not suggesting a change to where you want certain things posted, I get it. I was just suggesting something that might make your lives easier. It's usually far easier to direct the crowd where you want them to go , rather than constantly fighting against their current.

You highlighted "average user"...herein lies the problem. The average user doesn't give two ****s about the rules. They just post wherever they damn well please. These folks don't read the rules, period. That's why this thread was created. To direct people either to the rules, or at least attempt to make them realize there ARE rules. But they still don't, or won't, give two ****s about it still. All we can do is try, and report when we see an issue.
