Anyone put/install a Double Din Radio in dash

I know this is an old thread -- but -- uber, I just finished doing pretty much what you did. I have the heat/defrost working ok, but wanted to pick your brain on how you masked off the old vent where the hvac controls now sit, and also any other tips you have --

I built a small box out of abs that slid back into the old vent location, and used dynamat to seal up the edges around it. the heater controls then slid back into that box.

Started this research yesterday because I want to put in an Android Auto head unit in my 1991 XJ. Uber, could you give us a better write-up on how you did your double-din? I know that this is asking a lot, but it would be nice to know how you did it.

update on this-- finally got the DD install finished-- got a custom DD bezel from Denise at DDmods, went through the nightmare of replacing the slider controls with **** controls (the **** controls solved a clearance issue I was having), and I actually have full hvac controls from all the vents:-)
pioneer w/ navi and rear backup camera .. thinking of adding two additional rock cameras front left/front right :

Just did my WJ. Didn't have to cut the vent tube but did cut the metal bracket. The hardest part was reconfiguring the radio bezel. Thanks for fiberglass and Youtube.

I didn't want to hack the dash, nor deal with out of date stuff, so I just added a Samsung Tab S2. Its held on by a RAM suction cup mount, more than adequate and I can pop it right off if needed. Goes to D-A converter, then RCAs to my MiniDSP (not needed, it just allows me to tune everything) and then to the amps.
