another front bumper
started a new bumper. dont like the the one on my dd xj cuz i didnt build it.
have around 30 feet to weld up and gring down. still need to add some bracing, the rec., and maybe some rock light mounts.
i plan on running a rec. winch mount front and rear on both my jeeps so i can use one winch on two jeeps, front or rear.....building bumpers for my girls lifted xterra too. prob go between the three.

my trusty 4 1/2 inch grinder with a cut off wheel. the entire thing is being built with my grinder and my welder.
entire bumper is made of 4x3/16 and 3/4x3/16. mounts have 5 bolts on each side, and will be bolted to the front crossmember right next to the unibody......i beefed this area with some 3/16 plating.(14 bolts total.)

$29 each for the d-ring tabs
$50 for 20 ft 4x3/16 flat bar
$10 for 3/4x3/16 flat bar
$15 for rec tube
$140ish total
Could keep the cost down building your own d-ring tabs. I didn't want to spend the time on em so I just bought them. Also ad 5 percent for consumables.

Nice and smooth shape. I made one with a similar taper up, but called out the shape of the original bumper profile as I made it. Kind of like a big jigsaw puzzle.
Pretty good looking welds - what are you welding with?

Those little Lincolns are great. I've ran miles of welds with Lincoln gear and never had them disappoint me. Throw a tank of C25 gas on that thing and it will make really clean welds.

got all the grinding done last night when i got home. didnt take near as long as i thought it would. all welds were smoothed with an 80 grit flap disc on my 4 1/2 inch grinder.
just need to prime and paint today. then its time for a matching rear bumper with a tire carrier.
i need a fab table!!!!!!!
\
that is a 2 month old re 3.5 inch lift......notice the gangster lean to the pass side. gonna see if i can get re to send me a new set of coils. this is the first time i have had a prob with re quality in over a decade.
you may have noticed the d-ring tabs are not centered from top to bottom. i did this because i usually leave my d-rings on my jeeps all the time. having the tabs lower will make it so the do not slam into my bumper as easily. d-rings can drive you nuts on bumpy trails! ding, ding, da, da ding, ding! it also centered the tabs more in the middle of the mount bolts. in case anyone was wondering, those are weld thru d-ring mounts. the go thru the bumper back about 4 inches onto the mounts.
