Default Air shocks on a xj

Alright guys I am starting my build on my xj. I have desided to go with full with axles (d44 front d60 rear) I am going with air shocks on all for corners. So I have a question what lenght can I get away with in the front? I going
18 inches on the rear. Can I get away with it with out have part of my hood missing? Thanks.

Why in the world would you do air shocks? They will not allow the axles to flex properly offroad.

Are you serious! If set up right they will flex with no problems.

Air shocks are great for a DD that tows regularly, not so great off road unless you enjoy replacing them...

So tell us how to set up air shocks right. There is only one way to set them up.

1. Install the shock
2. Connect the airlines
3. Fill the shocks with air

Did I miss something in the 10 years I spent working in the auto parts industry.

ok im torn on the this ... i have seen highly modified trucks with huge lifts with both hydro/nitro shocks and airshocks and they have been flexing with the best of them and not blowing out ... but then again im no expert on the subject and i dont really go off roading all the time to know what he will encounter out on the trains

This is what he's talking about.

It the job of both the spring and the shock. Its like a coilover only you can adjust the ride height. They are badass.

Better pic

He will have to run springs front and rear and the air shocks will replace the reg shocks. Yes they will work great! Alot of my buddys buggys run air shocks and work great! 18s are big I would go more for 14 in the rear and 12s in the front.
Also you can run FOX but i would go for FOA.

Well, when someone actually explains what is going to be used it makes it easier to get opinions. The general picture that comes to mind when someone says airshocks is the run of the mill air shocks that can be purchased at any auto parts store.
