8274 winch bumper build
I know there are a ton of these, but not many for the 8274 so I'm going to post another bumper build.
I made my design off of JRC and Starboard M http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=968021 The main difference is that I used flat steel instead of tube, not a real advantage just easier to modify. It weighs 90lbs and yes before anyone asks, It does have tie-ins, they're just welded in instead of bolted.
I got the winch for $300 from a local guy that didn't know anything about its history, just that it was heavy and on the truck when he got it. It is in great shape for being a 1980 model.(Check the mfg code) Even has the original cable. I rebuilt the lower end and gave it some fresh paint. I think it turned out looking great.

i like it a lot, the bumper looks tuff as nails and theres nothing wrong with taking the others guys' designs and and making them into your own...but i think the best part is that winch! totally old school it looks like theres a couple hundred feet of cable on there

Coment on weld.
See the picture I have highlighted... See how the circled weld does not lay down at the base of it? That is usually a classic example of poor penetration. When you see a weld puckered up like that it usually means it's laying on top of the metal and not penetrating into it very well.
I'm sure it's not going to fail I just thought I'd take the opportunity to point that out...

It probably isn't great penitration, but then again its 1"x2" solid so I dont think my mig would ever give 100% heat into it. Its got plenty of weld to hold it to the 1/4" plate its stuck to, and i dont think Ill ever get it to fail before the unibody rips out. Thanks for pointing out my short comings though.
Also the 8274 can hold 150' of cable, but I think its been broke and shorted to about 100'. Thanks for all the comments guys. I wanted a warn and just like everything else about the jeep, I knew Id have to find something used and cheap. So I made up my mind that if I was going to buy a used winch I was going to get one that had been around forever. This thing is 30 years old, has the original motor and it still works great.

Not trying to beat you up... I saw that weld and thought "now there's a good example for people to learn what poor penetration looks like".
Just commented so you could learn too.
I like the bumper though.... Very nice styling!
