jeep wrangler advice
Hey sorry guys i know i post alot about buying jeeps but i try to get some opinions and advice before i buy one, hence why i come here.
I found a 95 jeep wrangler 4cylinder , 5spd with 126k has new tires , new battery and new starter, rust the guy said has 3 lil spots on the car. Other than that runs great. He is asking 2000 dollars.
what do you guys think of this deal ? Like always ima try to bring the price down a bit but is the 95 jeep wrangler good, and from what i read the 4 banger is a lil under powered.
And i believe its an inline 4 correct ?
thanks

That is really cheap for a wrangler from all the looking I did before I got my Cherokee. But it does sound good. And they are going to give you a little **** cuz your talking about a wrangler on Cherokeeforum but whatever and you did past it as a "build thread" when this should be put in "other vehicles". If you are wanting a good solid answer from a bunch of wrangler guys you should check out wrangler forum. Cuz wees here is uni-body guys! And we don't like you detectable frame type around here!! Lol jk good luck though!

I would not give it a second glance if its just a little 4 cyliner. One wheeling trip and you're wishing for a I6 with more power. And seriously why are you asking about a wrangler in a cherokee forum?

Well from some one who owns both Cherokee and wrangler I will tell you I don't care for the 4 cylinder motors to much underpowered and hard to find parts for in my experience as far as the deal sounds good price is a little low for the year makes me wonder if seller is hiding something I prefer my Cherokee to my wrangler but hey it's what floats your boat right if you like it jump on it but if unsure check out the wrangler forums and ask questions

Also I forgot to say I think that year the motor is fuel injected but if it's got a carb stay away those were nothing but money pits always breaking and not cheap to fix either the electric controlled carbs were junk

if you gear them right a 4-banger can do wonders. There's a guy in our club with a '98 Tj and that dang thing went everywhere. In fact it was so capable that I didn't even know it was the 2.5 until he said he was swapping in a 4.0 (another guy was swapping in a Hemi, so the low-mileage 4.0 just happened to be up for grabs)

that's not bad for a yj. the 4cyl is under powered on the highway with 33 inch tires, but it has 4.10 gears and has more than enough juice when in 4lo on the trails. and gets good gas mileage also.
just as long as the 3 rust holes are not in the frame. be sure to check the frame at each corner near the shackle mounts. common weak spot on yj's.
i have two tj's along with my 2 cherokee's and a ******. so don't take any flac from these unibody guys. haha.
cheers.

That price sounds low for a driveable Wrangler assuming it's a rust belt Jeep. I looked for a while at Wranglers and finally deceided they were stupid expensive for what you get. I mean a soft top come on, not only can it be broken into by someone with a pocket knife but I've witnessed people drive them in the winter. Me I like to be comfortable and I have no desire to drive a tent to work when it's -10F.
If you go look it first and foremost it is 16 winters old. Take a pry bar and a rubber hammer with you. #1 killer of Wranglers is the frame where the steering box mounts. When this rots away it is essentially trash, because you can not weld anything to dust. #2 is the rear of the frame both sides. Rubber hammer is for the floorboards which are made of pot metal anyways.

yeah it ended up being a pos, but i found a 96 grand cherokee with 128k 5.2l v8 for 3600 and its close to me. Might go check it out today looks good on the pics. Any way how are those 5.2l v8s ? i always wanted the inline 6 but since i had no luck finding with decent millage think ima just have to settle for a v8.
