1987 Cherokee

Default Wagoneer or Cherokee??

My friend just got a 88 wagoneer. It looks just like my 87 cherokee except the wagoneers four headlights. So would it be considered a wagoneer or a cherokee?I guess its a wagoneer XJ model as Wikipedia told me

Well his 4 wheel drive dont work. The shift pattern is 2 wd 4 hi 4 all time and N n 4 low...something like that..so that means he has the NP242.But i looked under his jeep and he has the NP 231.And his front axle dosent have a vaccum thing on the pass. side like mine does.So someone changed the transfer case with the wrong one?And i still dont get the front axle??? We are goin to look at the other axle he has tommorow though.

I think Wagoneer may look like cabin type height body, but where as cherokee is just compact type and for the jungle roads.

the wagoneers in the 80s were just fancy cherokees... My 88 had a NP231 for a t-case with a vacuum actuator on the front axle. It also had WOOD PANELING which was the greatest thing ever IMO. lol i loved my wagoneer..

Its basically a fancy cherokee with the "wood" panels and leather seats and power options, but same as the XJ
