Should i trade?
Well im not sure if some of you are informed or not but i will be needing a truck to be hauling some things around in the bed. Not real heavy loads. Anyways its come to that time where i finally have to let go of the Jeep for now and get something new. Sure thing is tho i will be back into the Jeep game as soon as i can scrap up some money after my new job and build up another jeep. But as of now i have a guy that wants to trade me a 1991 toyota truck with a 22re 4 cylinder engine with a 5 speed transmission. I have been trying to search around to see how good of engines they are. I have heard two times now that those engines are bullet proof. I would like to hear it from a few more people before i let go of me jeep. Also i need something with better gas mileage and the guy claims to be averaging 20 miles a gallon.
Basically what im asking is it worth trading my jeep for this 1991 toyota truck?
Thanks!

Thats what i was thinking but im needing a truck here kinda soon. Im thinking about buying this Toyota with a loan. Seems like a great truck but ive been researching about 22re's and they seem to need maintenance on the timing chain every 100k to 150k and the headgaskets are notorious for going out.

I'm not sure i have been searching around and i was hoping some people would chime in and give their opinion on this truck. He states he has maintained the truck very well. Another thing on the 22re engines that i have read is that the timing chain guides and chain like to go out every 100k to 150k miles. All i want is a good mileage truck or SUV that will get me to point A to point B. I wont be offroading much this year as I'm going to be centering my attention on my show car this year. Guy stated he also gets an average of 20 miles to a gallon in his truck and i would love to get that much gas mileage. I just hope if i do end up trading i wont receive junk and end up kicking myself in the *** for trading my perfectly running jeep for his truck.

Well you haven't mentioned it but if you're planning on DDing a truck, and you're looking for mileage, Have you considered a Ford Ranger 2010? You can get them pretty cheap off the lot now that the 2011s are out. Damn good trucks and they get around 30mpg. When I was looking for a vehicle last Feb. the guy offered me a crew cab Ranger, 4x4 with spray in bedliner, auto, cruise control, all kinds of extras and 150k warranty for 15k out the door. I'm sure its even better now.

i definitly woudlnt trade straight up... from your signature your jeep sounds very well built. I have an 88 Mazda b2600, basically same truck, and i can tell you it runs good. my head gasket blew, head cracked and about 700 dollars later it ran agin. I dont know about the 22re engine so i cant comment. How much is he asking for the truck? You said loan for buying it, i wouldnt see how he could want more than 1500-2000 for it.
X2 on the trailer. get a drop hitch and your good. kieep the jeep, it just dosnt seem like its worth the trade

Trade a 98 XJ that seems to be built pretty nice for a little 91 4 banger toyota truck...
I must be missing something!
I would say XJ worth $4k+ based on your signature
Toyota truck, maybe $1-2k?
Something like this, brand new for $600.

HF has some cheap ones under $400, or craigslist!
Much more practical for hauling people/cargo in the Jeep and bigger cargo/junk in the trailer!
