Ummm... At least it looks better than the new Cherokee?
I'm still facepalming over that one though. Drives me nuts that they couldn't at least keep away from Independent Suspension.
Thoughts? Gripes?
I can tell that they are leaning toward the European style of vehicles now a days, but I keep hoping that they will remember their American roots!
Italy?? C'Mon JEEP!

The final paragraph of the article says it all. It will be frowned upon by Jeep purists but will likely be a big success. Fiat/Chrysler couldn't care less what we think. They aren't expecting our fractional segment of the market to embrace it. I do fully expect the new Renegade will sell like hotcakes.

I think its unique and people really have to stop worrying about what Chrysler does. The model vehicle we like has been long discontinued and that's the way it is. Even Kia and Buick have made their vehicle more luxurious as oppose to the ****boxes they once looked like.

It's fine. I'd drive one. It is what it is. Same as my MDX and just as (in)capable. The only issue would be if they try to market it as an offroad vehicle. I've been down dirt roads and through small water crossings in my MDX too but that does mean it's a Jeep in the classic sense.

That's just how auto makers are these days. It's financially safer to make "SUV's" that all look the same, have no power, and are comfortable inside. That's why Chrysler ****-canned the RamRunner a few years back. There's too much risk in producing something that only caters to a comparatively small niche like us.
For what they are, these new Jeeps aren't that bad compared to some of the garbage other companies are churning out. All of the Trailhawk models and Rubicons are pretty cool. And Dodge Power Wagons are nice rigs. So Chrysler hasn't completely lost their spine yet.

in 15-20 years if these new jeeps are still on the road im sure there will be plenty of people throwing solid axles and 35s under them. The kl is butt ugly but we are not their target. They need to sell these trail rated grocery getters to be able to stay in business.

Agreed. New targets in a new world.
What I am hoping for, is a break out concept like the Ford Raptor, or the Dodge Ram Runner (Didn't quite make it). Jeep should just pony up and make a wicked tough "old school" New gear concept and see how many of us crawlers and trail riders there are. I know every time a new Rubicon comes out it does fairly well. The new V6 kinda bugs me, but it's not like they will come out with an updated I6 right?
That would be bad *****...
