Default pontiac G6 4 cyl oil filter

Alright guys i gotta do an oil change on a pontiac G6 4 cyl and from what I have read the oil filter is in a weird location. I already got the filter and oil. From what I have read you have to take off a plastic shield and then unscrew some plastic thing near the dipstick then it will be exposed.

My question is this....Any one ever service of these things? Can you clear this up a bit for me?

Thanks, I wish it was as easy as an XJ but you know these stupid new vehicles...

ok you take the plastic engine cover off, it just snaps on. look down on the right side of the intake manifold on the engine block you will see a plastic cap with a big nut on top of it. that is your oil filter. you really need a special socket to do it right cause a regular 32mm socket will not fit between the filter and the intake because some gm ****in idiot decided to put the filter right under the #4 cylinder intake runner. if you can find a snapon, matco, or mac tools dealer they will have the socket you need. if you have a local parts store you may try them too. its a filter socket for the gm ecotec engines. you may be able to take it off with pliers but ive tried and found the socket is 100 times easier

you dont really need a special socket i use a cheap 1 1/4 socket start it with the socket and remove it the rest of the way with your hands
