My first mud toy
My first mud toy was a 96 Nissan Pathfinder. I got it for my 16th birthday from my dad and it lasted me 4 year. The interior saw water every time i went offroading. The intake sucked in water 3 times. But the little beast still kept on running. I had a inch lift with 31" super swampers that were amazing. The thing that ended up killing it was a oil leak that i didnt pay attention to and eventually seized the motor. So i sold it for $800 and bought myself a 99 XJ.

the xj has 3 inch springs and a spacer up front and in the rear a add a leaf and a shackle. so basicly about 4.5-5 in lift My buddy just put 9 inch springs on his 1990 xj so im going to get his 6.5 springs and just get a full leaf pack for the rear.

Yea i am aware of that. Im ordering adjustable lower and upper control arms, extended brake lines, trac bar, longer shocks, 3" drop pitman arm. But i am planning on extending the drive shaft instead of getting the sye.

Extending the drive shaft won't help too much with driveline angles. The point of the sye is to be able to use a cv joint shaft which reduces the angle of the drive shaft.

i kinda wish i went with a older xj. i herd those can get away with a bigger lift without having to run a sye.

I have the same problem, got a 242 and they are hard to find a good SYE for. Try Tom Woods Driveshafts, last time I checked their SYE was 475 for the 242 but it came with a tapped tailshaft and a driveshaft. Plus your old tailshaft is worth a 400 dollar core, so basically getting it for only 75.

Nice XJ, i almost bought a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder for my first car but then i test drove it and found out that the power steering didnt work nor did the ac and it was stuck in 2WD, brought it back and went to check for the rust and it looked like someone fired off a 12 gauage under there because off all the tiny rust holes in the floors lol and to top it off when i was looking at the tire tread i noticed that the gas tank filler nozzle rusted from the quarter pannel and fell down into the wheel well
