Tonight I flushed the fuel tank with a couple gallons of petro. Came out clean. Happy with that. Put some new rubber fuel lines between the tank and the hard lines. Just temporarily. Will be putting a fuel cell with AN fittings as money allows. Was a grat night.

Got the valves lashed and the girdles on today. Dummied up the fuel system to run on the mechanical fuel pump. Ran it for about a minute. Very healthy engine. Now I got to start setting money aside for the drive shaft and exhaust.

Came across $650 today. Transferred the pink into my name and registered it. Paid for the drive shaft. Should be done Friday. Unfortunately I can't pick it up until early next week and I have to drive or send an employee to the city.

Drive shaft is dummied in. I have to set the pinion angle. Got the headers in the mail. Have to do a lot of manipulating with the sledge hammer and grinder to get them to fit. Once I get them in then its off to the exhaust shop. I also ordered a fuel pump block off plate and a battery cable.

Well... I'm pretty sure the headers are a wash. Good thing is I only paid $40 for them. I have a lot of skills but not enough to build a set. Will be dropping it off at a shop for a custom set when I can afford it...

That's what I tried. The problem is the engine bay is too narrow. They won't fit in between the upper control arms. I tried the grinder, beat them with a hammer and even heated them up and bent them with no luck. It's going to suck it up and pay somebody else to do it.

I'm quitting my job tomorrow. Tired of the bull$#it. Put everything back on the Gremlin to keep it as a roller. Moved the Jeep back in the garage. The Caddy will be under a cover. Hate to do that as the Cadillac has been with me for 32 years. Will keep you guys posted on any updates.

Did you try installing the headers then the motor or install the headers from below?
It's been a long time ago but a friend purchased a '71 Maverick Grabber, he yanked the 302 smogger in preparation for a 351W he had laying around. He was ready to notch the strut towers for the exhaust but I was able to source some hooker(?) headers. We drug the whole mess up to the Shell station one night when I was working and put the car on the lift went in from below and bolted them right up, no cutting or welding. (Hey Ernie, now you know what really happened that night at your station, ha ha).
Hope everything works out for ya, you gotta do what you gotta do!

Turbo I probably have over eight hours into getting them to fit. The only way they would work is if I re configured the sub frame. Just going to pay someone else to do it. On another note I'm pretty sure I landed a new job. Unfortunately its down in the valley so I will have to move.
