Got 2/3 boxes from summit so far today. The first two were shipped via Fedex, the second one is UPS.

Closer shot of my valve covers. They are a mix of parts actually, Summit racing stamped steel covers, Scott Drake decals(Power by Ford), and Trans Dapt Breather and oil cap.

Looks great, man! I wouldn't have known it was a mix unless you said something.

Oh and the steering wheel is installed. Don't mind the white faced tach, it's going away. it came with the truck as did white faced gauges...

So I had been procrastinating putting parts on... but not today!

Things done today:

Removed A/C compressor
Removed A/C idler
Installed Edelbrock 7181
Installed ARP Valve cover stud conversion
New Valve cover gaskets(cork)
Custom valve covers

Tomorrow i will be installing/doing:

OEM Remanufactured Distributor
Upper Radiator hose
Bypass Hose
Throttle cable(lokar)
Throttle and Kickdown cable bracket
Changing the oil(got some coolant in it)

The only other upgrades this motor will get will be headers, alloy heads,(210cc intake runners, and 62cc chambers), and a bigger cam. other than that it will be all maintenance stuff and a rebuild next winter(60 over).

Good call. Alot of people want nothing to do with them these days but if you don't plan on pulling a cover you can get years out of them.

i'll pull the covers again when i go to Aluminum heads but other than that nope no need.

So i got everything back together but am procrastiniating again, I only need to change the oil, fill the coolant and pray i have it at #1 TDC. I also have 1 vac line to hook up but i need a barb for it since it has to go to the carb not the intake manifold. Oh and it was a 31yr old OEM distributor that i replaced in the truck lol, all corroded and rusted.

I however have to replace the battery on the 4runner(was new last year) since it wont hold/take a charge. so that is the plan for tomorrow, should be easy enough since I have the paperwork for the battery.

for the timing to be correct and not 180* out it has to be at #1 TDC on the compression stroke. and it's very hard to set TDC when your by yourself having to hand crank over the motor with a ratchet and socket trying to figure out if your on compression and or exhaust stroke.
