Default Chev Blazer, 83-86 crank sensor

hi, this forum is pretty desolate but here goes. a pos 86 blazer showed up at my house, thank God temporarily, had three broken in half vac lines including the biggest one. it ran somehow. i replaced all that and saw a melted electrical plug in connector that looks exactly like the one for the cherokee crank sensor, in the exact same position.

being as how these two vehiculars are made by two entirely different mfgrs, is it actually the crank sensor on the chevy, and this is an 86 blazer with an 83 engine. if you know, please reply. it's my step daughts car and i could see this thing conking out in the middle of nowhere any time. thx.

Well if im not mistaken in 86 should be a carbed engine on a truck. also if im not mistaken these motors are free from any computer sensing components. The most basic of motors only requiring fuel, air and battery to run. Only thing coming out of that motor that is hooked up to an electrical connection on the motor should be a temp sensor, oil pressure sensor, distributor, starter and spark plugs and if the carb has electric choke then that would have some wires. You have any pics?

Would an 83 engine have those sensors? I had a tbi setup on an engine I bought off a guy never ran it tbi in the truck but when I gathered all the stuff to sell the tbi set up dont remember seeing anything that looked like a cps Well I think there is only one way to solve this we need a picture haha

Did a little thinking and research, is it the pin connector that comes off the distributer back there, I would post a pic of the distributer and connection pin. from research gathered a bad ground or lack there of a ground from the engine to the frame can cause these connecters to possibly burn up. Seems reasonable if you really want a pic i can DL one and put it one photobucket and upload it
