'96 Jeep Cherokee - desperately need troubleshooting help
We have a 1996 jeep cherokee (high mileage) that ran out of gas. We grabbed an old gas can that had some gas in it and put about 1/2-1 gal in to get it started and over to the gas station. Then added $20 regular. The car immediately started hesitating and stalling out and could not be driven any distance. We now think the gas in the gas can was probably bad - very old, possibly water in it, etc. since the car was running fine before this happened. Went to Advanced Auto and they recommended SeaFoam (fuel cleaner) be added to the gas tank. After doing this the problem was still happening and once the car stalled it would not start back up. It turns over and struggles to start but won't start. Any suggestions to correct this problem?? We don't have a trusted mechanic and are afraid someone can really take advantage by telling us costly repairs are needed. Please help.

That sea foam was a BAD idea I would have told you to use some HEAT it is a water separator product specifically for getting water out of gas.
That sea foam probably broke some old stuff free and now your spark plugs are probably covered with all types of crap, I would pop the plugs out turn it over a couple of times to clear the cylinders of crap and drop in some new plugs
And as stated above I would suck all the old gas and sea foam out of the tank, sea foam should only be used with a full tank of gas and only about half the can at that, good luck :-)
