94 Wrangler gets no spark

My brother has a 94 Wrangler with a 4 cyl in it that he got stuck in the mud(its all stock) and he threw a rod. We got the same 4 cyl for it out of a 90(i do believe)wrangler, engines installed used the distributor off the old engine and it wont get any spark. Weve checked the fuses, distributor inside, cap, rotor and all of the wiring. My father thinks he may have killed the computer. Any ideas? Thanks in avance

Check the CPS. My CPS on my XJ went out and when i check there was no spark. Fixed the CPS and it fired right up. Just an idea; don't go spending 35 dollars on a part right away though
