Default 1998 Grand Prix GTP

Alright guys, I'm new here, and I love talking about my car, so here she is. I got this car back in April after I sold my first car. It had 79,xxx miles at the time and is at 85,xxx now. This thing has ZERO rust, hence why I just bought my jeep to use in the winter and also to give me something else to drive in general so I can avoid piling up miles on the prix.

I'm really into the 3800 modding scene, so yes, it is modded. Actually, the previous owner had a turbo kit on this car, running a 61 mm turbo, A2A intercooler, and a rare stattama stage 2 cam. The car made about 400whp and was good for a low 12, high 11 quarter mile. Sadly, I couldn't afford what the guy was asking for with the turbo kit. So he and I settled at a lower price and he demodded and put an m90 setup back on the car and threw in some harland sharp 1.9 roller rockers on top of it, as well as a rebuilt transmission. A buddy of his that was helping with the demod also happened to be selling his old 3800 headers at the time. So while the car was tore apart, I got some headers thrown on as well with the 1.9s, which resulted in a smaller supercharger pulley and tune to go along with it. Since then, I've scrapped the rockers and have gone cammed. I plan to get some stage 3 heads and maybe an intercooler over the winter and hopefully I can get it into the 12s.

It's not as expensive as you'd think. If you know what you're doing, parts can be bought for cheap. As far as working on the engine, it's not bad unless you're working on the backside. The cam was a bit of a job too. The guy that helped me put it in and I actually dropped the subframe and did the cam install through the passenger side wheel-well. That was fun lol. Glad you like the car too. Thanks!

A Stock supercharged seriesII 3800 (L67) was rated at 240HP, 280lb-ft though this was known to be a bit conservative.

I'm still disappointed that GM discontinued that engine (as am I with Jeep discontinuing the 4.0L I6), definitely my favorite V6 (it made a heck of a sleeper in a Buick Regal GS too).

Probably somewhere around 270-280 to the wheels? I'm just guessing. I couldn't give you an estimate on torque lol. I'm running on low timing right now and a bigger pulley than I should be on. My buddy had some tuning issues after the cam. Should have been able to run a smaller pulley and throw some timing at it and we could barely add any timing. We think it might be a fueling issue. I've been meaning to test the fuel pressure, but I have not gotten around to it. After heads and ic I should be over 300 whp. Torque will probably be damn near 400.

That thing is sick! What was your mod list? Nice quarter mile time by the way. Funny thing is I actually plan on getting some rustang wheels in the near future. I've been considering either the machs or a few different styles of svt wheels. As far as roof rails go, unless I can find a set at a yard for less than 50... I will never buy them and there's no good yards near me. So I'll probably never have them haha.
