This is a cheap and (not so) easy way to get a freer flowing intake. This is the second jeep I have done it to.

Tools Needed: Flat Screwdriver
Pliers/vicegrip
Small saw (like a keyhole saw for drywall)
Towel

First, remove the top of the airbox. This is what you should see


As you can see this is very restricted


Use your saw to cut a notch out of the restrictor and pull it out with your pliers.


Now isn't that much better?


I notice more gain on my 89 with free flow exhaust than my 90 with stock exhaust, but 0-60mph is still under 10 seconds. Pretty good for a brick!
