Zj vs xj part conpatablility
I just bought a 95 grand cherokee larado after selling my xj and was wondering as far as parts go what years will work for grand cherokee parts and are xj parts the same?

As far as I know, engine and front suspension parts are pretty much the same if you have the 4.0. There may be differences in sheet metal parts, but IDK. The big difference is the XJs are rear leaf springs and the ZJs are coil. I've also seen from the JY that the 231 t/case is most common in Xjs and the 242 is common in ZJs. The bastard 249 seems to be most common in V8 ZJs. There was only 1 V8 ZJ in my local yard and the ENTIRE POWERTRAIN had been removed. I only could tell by the decals on the firewall and the D44a rear axle.
Also, your 95 is probably v-belt drive. The waterpump spins in the opposite direction from the serpentine pump. It makes a big difference in cooling if you use the wrong one.
