xj owner looking at a 97 zj today
hey guys going to look at a 97 laredo today with the 4.0 has 155k on it and is asking 1200$, anything i should look out for? and also how is this year with reliabilty,4wd system etc..thanks!

The rear suspension is basically the same as your front suspension, so watch for rust around the control arm mounts. In my opinion, stay away from the 249 Quadratrac t/case. Most 4.0's came with the 242 Selectrac, which I think is the most reliable t/case ever used in a jeep. The 42re trans is a good one if taken care of and not abused. The BIG thing is don't use Drive as a brake to stop a rearward roll. It puts too much stress on the forward clutch.
The 242 gives you the option of a FULL time 4WD that can be used on dry pavement, unlike the 231 in your XJ. It's very nice when you've got patchy snow and icy spots.
All the other stuff are just bells and whistles.
