I have 225/75R/15's on my 97 and they do just fine. I run Goodyear Wranglers (least expensive model) which seems to last and give me great traction in rain and snow. Ran them on my 94 ZJ for 7 years and still had tread left when I had to junk her this past August and get another ZJ and put new Wranglers on her as well. Not that expensive if you shop around. Some sites I went to when comparison shopping said that 225 would not fit(?) Go figure.

Yeah, a lot of tire shops won't put anything on a vehicle that isn't in their book because they don't want the liability if something goes wrong that can be traced to the wrong tires. I had a guy at Firestone tell me to take my jeep home and bring back just the tires. He'd mount anything on my wheels that I wanted as long as I was the one who put them on the jeep. Go figure.
